3 games from Southeast Asian developers to look out for

There’s clearly no lack of talent from the Southeast Asian region, where we are slowly seeing some fantastic titles come out one after the other. Studios from the region may be small, but can create great experiences that can stand toe to toe with the rest of the world. Remember No Straight Roads and Grand Guilds from last year?

In case you’re looking for more titles from the region as a show of support, here are 3 games you can look forward to in the next few months.

Rising Hell (Tahoe Games – Indonesia)

Adding to the long list of indie rogue-lites is Rising Hell, which gives a new meaning to the phrase “nowhere to go but up.” Rising Hell is a vertical platformer that looks like a mix of Castlevania and Dead Cells, all wrapped up with crispy effects and a banging soundtrack. The talented devs over at Tahoe Games are sure know how to rock out.

Rising Hell launches on May on the PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.

Hoa (Skrollcat Studio / Kyx Studio – Singapore / Vietnam)

Some games, just based on trailers alone, can captivate you because of how beautiful they can look. One such game is Hoa, a puzzle platformer with Ghibli-like inspiration that looks absolutely exquisite. The team at Skrollkat Studio and Kyx Studio have really nailed the look and feel of this one, and it wouldn’t be far from the truth to say that Hoa is a wish-list worthy title.

Hoa is scheduled to launch in July for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Switch, and PC.

Soup Pot (Chikon Club – Philippines)

Chikon Club really loves 2 things, play with words and cooking games. While totally unrelated, that didn’t stop them from creating Soup Pot (say it slowly…), their newest title that was recently announced during the Xbox Indies showcase.

Put your cooking skills to the test in this wacky simulator that where you can relive some of the best memories of home-cooked food by your folks as Soup Pot is set to release in August.
