Bluepoint Games working on ‘original content’ for their next project

Bluepoint Games is now formally part of the PlayStation Studios family after an official announcement by Sony. The team is most known for their fantastic remasters and remakes, and many gamers are certainly looking out for what the next IP to be revived will be. To everyone’s surprise, they’ll actually be working on ‘original content’ for their next project.

According to an exclusive interview by IGN, Bluepoint Games President Marco Thrush says that “Our next project, we’re working on original content right now. We can’t talk about what that is, but that’s the next step in the evolution for us. The transition from remasters to remakes was to test ourselves and push ourselves harder for the next step.”

IGN notes that the term “original content” is quite unclear, so there is no definitive answer yet whether it is a totally new game or a game that’s a part of an existing IP.

While fans of the studio should be excited at the future of what Bluepoint Games can accomplish given the backing of Sony, it’ll take a while to see the product of their hard work. Thrush continues to say in the interview that “You’re starting out with the blueprint, right? True original development, there’s a blueprint, you execute on it, and then it’s not fun and you throw it away and you start over. So yes, by definition, my default answer is going to be original development, of course, takes longer. It has to, otherwise, you wouldn’t make a good game.”

Would you rather see Bluepoint work on another remaster / remake or is it time for them to work on something original?
