Bungie commits to Destiny 2 until 2022, latest expansion coming out on September 22

Bungie revealed a ton of new info during their livestream for Destiny 2, and it seems players will have a lot to look forward to in the years to come.

Yes, year(s).

Beyond Light, the latest expansion, is set for September 22

The latest expansion entitled “Beyond Light” will bring with it a new fallen Kell named Eramis who is trying to gather an army on the frozen wastes of Europa. The expansion will also include a new raid and a new element called Stasis, which we expect to bring a whole new dimension to the current gameplay.

Season of Arrivals is live now

The new season for Destiny 2 is live right now and along with it, a new public event involving flying pyramids, a new exotic quest, and a prophecy dungeon, a puzzle-laden affair which invites you to “search for answers” and “seek the nine”.

Destiny 2 already has expansions scheduled for 2021 and 2022

You thought it was Destiny 3, but no, it’s still Destiny 2! At least until 2022.

Bungie has also announced “The Witch Queen” and “Lightfall” expansions for the next 2 years, indirectly squashing any Destiny 3 related news for now.

With the incoming next generation consoles in the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X, Bungie has confirmed that Destiny 2 players will be able to upgrade to the next generation for free, allowing them to play through a console change seamlessly. Destiny 2 will also feature cross-generation cross-play, quite a mouthful, but basically PS4 and PS5 will be able to play with each other, as well as Xbox One and Series X players. Next generation consoles will also be able to run Destiny 2 in stunning 4K 60FPS.
