It’s that time of the year again when gamers around the nation take center stage. That’s right, premiere event organizer Gariath Concepts is bringing back the biggest gaming convention in the Philippines this October 25-27 with the Esports and Gaming Summit 2019 (ESGS), co-presented by PLDT Home Fibr and Smart!
Building a new tradition, ESGS will be having a yearly theme to provide fans a refreshing visual experience inside the event. This year, it will be going for the cyberpunk theme where attendees can experience a thrilling futuristic adventure – from hologram effects to the introduction of Astra, the official event persona of ESGS.
“With ESGS getting bigger and better every year, I’m very excited to see the gamers in the activities and games that they will be able to experience,” said Joebert Yu, Managing Partner of Gariath Concepts. “Our event partners, led by PLDT and Smart, up the ante each year and provide ESGS event-goers with a new kind of gaming experience year after year, and this iteration is no exception to that. It is our hope that people who go to ESGS leave with smiles on their faces after all the hype activities and merchandise.”
Astra, ably cosplayed by Awie De Guzman, will be an integral part of all ESGS events moving forward, taking eventgoers on a journey that changes from theme to theme, year to year.
Here are some of the things you can look forward to when attending ESGS 2019 this weekend!
Experience the future at PLDT-Smart Cyber City
PLDT Home Fibr and Smart are putting up the PLDT-Smart Cyber City, a huge gaming zone that gives subscribers a chance to experience the hottest Virtual Reality games including Sniper Elite and Beat Saber to win exciting prizes.
In between the matches and the shows, subscribers can also head to the PLDT-Smart Cybercity to lounge around, recharge their devices, print photo souvenirs with friends, and bump into their favorite cosplayers and esports athletes, such as members of the PLDT-Smart Omega Team and SIBOL powered by Smart, the country’s national eSports team.
Filipino gamers can enjoy lag-free gaming and seamless connectivity powered by PLDT Home Fibr and Smart LTE, the country’s fastest fixed and mobile networks according to the world-renowned Ookla Speedtest Awards.
Game Showcases sustain the ESGS hype with the newest game releases
Game Publishers won’t be leaving themselves behind as Capcom, Ranida Games, Gumi, Boomzap, Ourpalm/GameNow, Kojima Productions and Nintendo Switch (by Maxsoft) will be gracing their current games and merchandise for everyone to experience. It is worth noting that ESGS 2019 will be the first time that Nintendo joins a gaming convention in Southeast Asia.
Playbook will be hosting the Mountain Dew Fighting Game Arena for more fighting game action. Fans can also expect to see the SIBOL Philippine team to have a series of exhibition matches on the main stage for the entire weekend. Mobile games retain their home via the Mobile Esports Arena and their lineup of activities and tournaments. To complete the best Philippine esports action, teams from The Nationals will be making an appearance via different booths and activities all throughout the weekend.
Long-time brand partners continue their support for ESGS and new brands are making their debut as well. Major hardware exhibitors such as Asus Republic of Gamers, MSI, Predator, Legion by Lenovo, HyperX, Corsair, ViewSonic, Gamdias, XPG, Steelseries, Powercolor, Bloody, JBL and more will be showcasing their latest line of products aimed for gamers, and you can expect some event-exclusive sales and promos.
Also, due to popular demand, we are expanding our Artist Alley to cater more aspiring illustrators and fan artists to celebrate the gaming fandom. More merchandise exhibitors will be selling their merchandise, ranging from gaming gear, toys, tabletop games, collectibles and many more.
The International Game Developers Association – Manila (IGDA Manila) will be bringing Indie Fiesta once again to ESGS. Get a chance to try out new games from the independent scene and get a chance to meet some of the developers and be inspired by their journey in creating games.
It’s back to basics, as this year’s Cosplay Competition will have cosplayers compete in their best gaming character cosplay. Those who want to join the competition may find the rules here and sign up here! Plus, as a surprise treat for those who will be donning their best costumes inside the event – anyone can get a chance to win a prize whether you are competing or just having fun in the event. The cosplay competition is organized by Anime Alliance.
