Final Fantasy VII Remake Part II will feature gameplay elements taken from INTERmission DLC

It’s not too much of a stretch to say that Final Fantasy VII Remake has been a hit with fans and newcomers alike. It introduced a remake that brought about a new look and feel to the game, and even overhauled the combat system for the better. Intergrade steps it up, not only by giving it all the bells and whistles from the new hardware, but also by giving fans a taste of what the future of the game may hold with the INTERmission DLC.

The most noticeable addition comes by way of the combat system, which features combos from Yuffie and Sonon. According to a recent interview by the Washington Post with FF7R co-director Naoki Hamaguchi, it looks like we’ll be seeing more of these when FF7R Part II comes along.

Talking about the combat of the game, Hamaguchi says that “From that perspective, I am rather satisfied with this final form, in which the strategic element of the command-based battle from the original co-exists with the real-time, action-oriented battle.” Hamaguchi continues to say that “Additionally, with ‘Intermission,’ there’s another element introduced: combo movies where Yuffie and Sonon team up … which makes for a different feel in battle strategy. I would like to leverage these, including other elements we tried out in ‘Intermission,’ in our next story.”

The combo system would be rather interesting, and it would be nice to see attacks that utilize certain party members to make for more strategic team compositions when the new characters are introduced.
