Players looking for a coop game to help bring back some form of contact with their friends amidst this pandemic should look no further because It Takes Two, the latest from EA and Josef Fares’ Hazelight Studios, is a certified hit that will surely scratch the coop itch.

As per Metacritic, the game is currently rated a whopping 90 across 23 critic reviews, with all reviews being positive and some even scoring the game perfectly, bringing it to universal acclaim levels.

VentureBeat scores it a perfect 5/5, saying “I struggle to think of another co-op puzzle game that’s better. Maybe Portal 2? Even if that’s true, It Takes Two belongs on that same tier.”

GamesRadar also gives it a perfect 5/5, saying “It Takes Two is a Pixar-worthy adventure that consistently innovates, offering players an excellent co-op experience unlike any other.”

Game Informer rates it a 9.25/10, pointing out that “It Takes Two may not be the platforming juggernaut that it aspires to be, but it more than makes up for it with its big heart, wealth in variety, and gorgeous imagery. All of its individual actions are things we’ve done in other games, but when applied to this distinct cooperative approach, they take on a whole new life and are used in wonderful ways over a long adventure.”

VGC gives it a 4/5, saying that “With its relentless stream of clever ideas, It Takes Two is one of the most memorable and inventive co-op games of the modern era. Just make sure your partner knows their way around a DualSense controller.”

Push Square also gives it an 8/10, saying “It Takes Two is an excellent co-op adventure. While it stumbles on certain narrative aspects and not all the performances are winners, it more than makes up for that with its brilliantly fun and ever-changing gameplay. Forcing two players to work in tandem in countless ways, the game embraces co-op play wholeheartedly, and the variety of gameplay and environments makes it a joy to play from start to finish.”

It Takes Two is available on March 26 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC.
