January 2022 Game Releases

First of all, we wish everyone a Happy New Year! We hope 2021 was good for you and that the new year has much more gaming in store for everyone with the January 2022 Game Releases.

The January 2022 Game Releases isn’t exactly brimming with hot titles compared to the past few months, and in anticipation of next month with titles such as Elden Ring and Horizon Forbidden West, this month is just readying up everyone for a jam-packed February.

There’s a mix of old and new in the January 2022 Game Releases, with games such as Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection and God of War for the PC headlining the month. We’ll also finally get our hands on the anticipated open-world Pokemon game, Legends: Arceus.

Deep Rock Galactic (PS4 and PS5)

Release Date: January 4, 2022
Platform: PS5, PS4
The popular Xbox and PC co-op first-person shooter Deep Rock Galactic will make its way to PlayStation at the start of the new year. You can take the role of one of the four dwarven miners specializing in a unique ability while exploring a ghost ship and ridding it of ravenous aliens.

Monster Hunter Rise (PC)

Platform: PC
The PC port to the much revered Nintendo Switch release of Monster Hunter Rise finally drops this January. PC fans of Monster Hunter finally have something to rejoice at the start of this year as they catch up with the action with their pet Palico and Palamute taking down fearsome beasts and improving their craft.

God of War (PC)

Playstation PC makes a push this January by porting one of its coveted PS4 exclusives. In anticipation of God of War Ragnarok dropping later this year, PC fans can catch up on the action before the appointed date arrives.

Rainbow Six Extraction

Say what you will about Ubisoft’s rebranding of the Tom Clancy property, but this is an interesting re-imagining of the Rainbow Six franchise. Sure, it is still a tactical shooter, but it’s closer to Back4Blood than Rainbow Six when you’re not fighting other human operatives, but aliens that infect humans.

Windjammers 2

Platform: Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series
A pong style “fighting game” featuring 10 different Windjammers duke it out for supremacy in this fun-looking sequel featuring new courts and crazy 16-bit action. The retro feel is really working out for it as it appears to be something we must’ve played between the 16-bit and 32-bit era and it’s looking kinda rad.

Ghostrunner Project_Hel (Expansion)

A full blown Ghostrunner expansion releases this month following a free Holiday Cosmetic Skin Expansion from December. It was supposed to be a smaller DLC, but now this full expansion puts you in the shoes of Hel, one of the bosses from a previous game. More combat-oriented, they can survive an additional attack compared to Ghostrunner.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus

Pokemon’s answer to Monster Hunter finally comes underway with Pokemon Arceus, a re-envisioning of the series with a more open world aspect. Instead of hunting down these pokemon, we’re gonna catch them all and be the very best. You know the drill.

January 2022 Game Releases Pick of the Month: Uncharted Legacy of Thieves

Release Date: January 28, 2022
Platform: PS5

Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves collects the PS4 Uncharted series from A Thief’s End and The Lost Legacy into a PS5 remaster package. Just like the other Sony remasters that were released in 2021, they will have an upgrade fee to those who have pre-purchased the PS4 versions of the series, but will not be available for the PS Plus recipients of A Thief’s End. PC date to be announced soon.
