Kazuki Takahashi, Famed Creator of ‘Yu-Gi-Oh!’, has Passed Away

In what is considered to be a shock for the anime and trading card game community, the creator of Yu-Gi-Oh! Kazuki Takahashi has passed away at the age of 60.

As reported by NHK and the Japan Times, Takahashi’s body was found floating near the waters of Nago, Okinawa Prefecture in snorkeling gear. Authorities found the body on Wednesday morning, and coast guard officials have confirmed on Thursday that that it was indeed Takahashi.

Officials are still looking into the cause of death, but injuries to the belly and lower parts of the body have been found, possibly indicating apparent injury from sea creatures. Further investigations are still ongoing.

Kazuki Takahashi’s works are widely famous, where his career skyrocketed thanks to his work on Yu-Gi-Oh!, which is known worldwide and has been released across various mediums including an anime series, films, toys, and even video games such as the hugely successful Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel released eariler this year.
