Metal Gear news may be coming soon, hints official social media account

It’s been quite a while since we last heard of anything related to the franchise. Apart from Oscar Isaac’s casting for the movie, there’s been very little to go by except for far-fetched rumors. Recently, social media has been abuzz due to hints that some Metal Gear news may be happening soon.

A recently created Twitter Account named Tom Olsen, who is a “Born and bred NYer. Maintenance Technician at the Big Shell.” according to his profile, has been tweeting mundane maintenance stuff from the location. Fans of the MGS franchise will know that Big Shell is a marine facility near Manhattan, and the site from which MGS2 is focused on.

It could be argued that the account is simply a troll account, but a recent reply from the official Metal Gear account is now fanning the flames, sparking rumors of something big going on behind the scenes.

The account mentions something about “visitors coming next week”, which may or may not indicate that something could happen then. It could be that the account is just taking us all for a ride, so until any solid announcements are made, some salt is required.

What this could all mean is still up in the air right now, but recent rumors suggest a possible Metal Gear Solid HD Collection coming to the PlayStation 5 in September, which supposedly will release in two parts. The first includes Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence, while Metal Gear Solid 4 releasing separately. Of course, this is quite a tough rumor to get excited about, since the originating source is 4chan, but then again stranger things have indeed happened, so we’ll just have to wait and see if it proves to be anything more than an unfounded rumor.

In case this proves to be true, would you purchase and play with a Metal Gear Solid HD Collection if it comes out for the next-gen consoles?
