Following the recent reveal of Shohei Ohtani as the cover athlete for MLB The Show 22, we get a peek at the various special editions of the game along with an extra special illustrated cover art crafted by famed manga artist Takashi Okazaki of Afro Samurai and Batman Ninja fame.

As announced on the PlayStation Blog, the MVP edition of the game will get an exclusive steelbook that showcases a fiery anime-inspired design that pays homage to Shohei’s big love of manga and anime. It’s one of the better-designed steelbook cases in recent memory, and is fitting for Ohtani’s superhero-like performance in the 2021 season that skyrocketed him to superstar status.
