PlayStation Announces Acquisition Of Haven Studios

Sony has just announced that Haven Studios, led by Jade Raymond, is the latest in a long line of studios that have joined the PlayStation family.

Montreal-based Haven Studios was formed a year ago and was reported to be creating an original IP. Fast forward to today and Hermen Hulst has officially welcomed them to be a part of PS Studios, saying that they “were inspired by Haven’s vision for creating a modern multiplayer experience that brings gamers together in positive and meaningful ways.” Hulst continued by saying that they are “confident in their creative and technical expertise to deliver on such an ambitious project and were thrilled to invest in their journey developing a new, original IP for PlayStation.”

Raymond, known for her work on the early Assassin’s Creed and Watch Dogs games, says that “Our first new IP for PlayStation is on track to deliver a AAA multiplayer experience with a vision to build a systemic and evolving world focused on freedom, thrill, and playfulness that will keep players entertained and engaged for years.”

It’s still a bit early to tell if the acquisition will be worth it, especially since Haven Studios has not put out any game just yet, but if there’s any company that knows how to cultivate talent, leave it to Sony to make things happen.
