Sony Offers First Look at PlayStation VR2 Features Like See-through Mode and Broadcasting

Sony has offered players a look at the upcoming user experience for the PlayStation VR2, including a peek at some features like see-thru mode, broadcasting, and setting a custom play area.

As announced on the PlayStation Blog, a see-through feature has been implemented, allowing players to see their surroundings while wearing the headset. This comes in handy when trying to check where things are without the need to remove the unit, and is possible due to the embedded front cameras.

Players can also choose to broadcast their game session while playing, done in conjunction with a PS5 HD Camera.

Additionally, players can also customize the PlayStation VR2 play area, allowing players to scan the room and use the VR2 Sense Controllers to use the appropriate play area to fit your needs.

The PlayStation VR2 will show a warning when you are approaching the boundaries you have set, keeping players informed and away from accidents.

A couple of display modes were also detailed:

  • VR Mode – 4000 x 2040 HDR video format (2000 x 2040 per eye) with 90Hz/120Hz frame rate, VR game content to be displayed in a 360 degree view.
  • Cinematic Mode – 1920×1080 HDR video format with 24/60Hz and also 120Hz frame rate, all non-VR game and media content can be viewed on a virtual cinema screen.

Are you looking forward to the release of the PlayStation VR2?
