Ubisoft has announced that the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake will now be handled by Ubisoft Montreal. Prior to this announcement, Ubisoft’s Indian Studios (Pune and Mumbai) were in charge of development.

Ubisoft says that they will now “take the time they need to regroup on the scope of the game to deliver you the best experience for this remake of an all-time classic, when it’s ready.” The decision was deemed as an important step to move forward with the project, and will now return to the creators of the original Sands of Time trilogy, which is Ubisoft Montreal.

The upcoming remake has seen quite a troubled development cycle, receiving a handful of delays until it was delayed indefinitely a little over a year ago. A lot of players offered harsh critiques over the art style of the game when it was first announced, which is possibly the cause of the delays.

Thanks to this update, we at least know that work is being done on the game, but no release window has been given, so we’ll have to assume that the previous “indefinite” status still holds.
