Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy has been out for a few days and we can definitely tell you it was an amazingly fun surprise. If you’ve been playing the game for a while then you already know about the Huddle mechanic, which not only buffs up your team, but also starts playing a little tune from the amazing selection of licensed tracks that the game has.

If you’re lucky enough (or unlucky, whichever way you see it) though, a certain piece MIGHT start playing which will feel so familiar, especially if you’ve already been a victim of it.

It looks like we finally know who’s behind putting the iconic track in the game, courtesy of a video by the folks at Square Enix and Eidos-Montreal:

The developers definitely knew what they were doing, as they got none other than the original artist himself, Rick Astley, to generously “hack” gamers playing Guardians of the Galaxy with a familiar tune.

Pretty good marketing if you ask me!

Here’s a BTS look at the whole thing:

As if it could be anyone else.

Rick Astley was more than happy to Rickroll everyone, as he definitely knows how big of an impact his song has had on the internet as a whole. Have you gotten Rickrolled in your Guardians of the Galaxy playthrough yet?

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is now available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Switch, and PC.

When he's not casually preparing a costume for the next convention, researching on the latest anime titles every season, or singing anime/game songs to just let out, Ricki finds his way back to his first and prized hobby: Gaming. Ricki is more of an offline single-player console gamer than online and multiplayer competitor but as long as there's interesting stories, gameplay, and characters (for his cosplay ideas), expect him to be right there in the thick of things.
