Shadow of Conspiracy: Section 2 shows off some Unreal Engine 5 goodness

If you’ve ever wondered what games this generation could look like with the new Unreal Engine 5? Shadow of Conspiracy: Section 2, a narrative-driven third and first-person action RPG is something that you might want to watch out for.

Developed by Elysium Game Studio, a Berlin-based company, this prototype gameplay slice was developed in 6 months by less than 10 people which is particularly impressive considering the output. Although the animations could use some work, the potential is exciting.

You can check out the 6-minute Gamescom trailer (courtesy of IGN) below to see a showcase of what the new engine has to offer in terms of graphics and gameplay.

In 2087 Berlin, you will be investigating a police chief’s murder linked together by a missing girl. As seen in the trailer, you’ll be investigating a heavy industrial area where you can traverse on foot or with flying cars similar to Bladerunner 2049. The industrial aesthetic mixed with the ethereal synth score really brings out that heavy cyberpunk influence. I guess flying cars just keep getting delayed by 50 years.

Shadow of Conspiracy: Section 2 really shows a lot of inspiration from Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, with the protagonist carrying strong Adam Jensen vibes. What’s particularly impressive here are the lighting effects and the stylistic muzzle flashes when you fire guns, which is an exciting peek at how we will view and experience new titles using Unreal Engine 5.

Watch out for more updates on Shadow of Conspiracy: Section 2 as it is planned to release for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
