Skate 4 is now skate. and Will be a Free-to-play game with Cross-play and Cross-progression

EA and Full Circle have announced that Skate 4, now known as just skate., will be an upcoming free-to-play live-service title that will feature full cross-play and cross-progression between platforms.

This development was announced during a 20-minute “The Board Room” developer video, where Full Circle shared exciting updates about the game, even why it was named the way it is.

“It’s not Skate 4, and here’s the reason: This isn’t a sequel. It’s not a remake. It’s not a reboot, a prequel; it’s not any of that. It’s not a remake or a remaster, whatever ‘re’ you can do. This is it, it’s skate. We’re in this for the long haul,” says creative director Cuz Parry.

Players looking forward to the game shouldn’t expect more entries of the title, but instead the developers are looking to listen to feedback from the community and put in the features that the players want.

Throughout the discussion, it was also mentioned that the game will have microtransactions, as is the nature with free-to-play titles, but the focus is purely for cosmetic purposes.

No release date nor platforms were specified, but interested parties can signup for a chance at playtesting the game HERE.
