Magic and firearms come together in Witchfire, a first-person shooter developed by The Astronauts for PC, and featured at the Summer Game Fest.

With boomer shooters being revised and combined with other genres, most notably rhythm shooter games as seen in BPM: Bullets Per Minute, the game definitely finds itself in good company.

From the gameplay featured, it hearkens back to magic-based boomer shooters like Hexen and Heretic. This time though you’re equipped with a magical gun and also casting spells with your left hand. The latest trailer shows great promise for the game as it looks slick in both feel and pace, so we can’t wait to see more of the game.

Witchfire is entering Early Access on PC via Epic Games soon.
