During the Resident Evil Showcase, which featured a bunch of announcements such as a limited-time demo along with a new trailer. Among all of these, one thing that would be very familiar to long-time players of the series will be the return of the highly requested Mercenaries mode.

Mercenaries is basically a mode that has arcade style gameplay where players explore certain locations and reach the end zone within a time limit in exchange for rewards.

From the video, the gameplay looks very fast-paced and exciting, featuring the shop which players can access in between areas if they want to purchase weapons and consumables. Abilities can now also be equipped, which gives the player certain perks such as more handgun damage or faster movement, allowing for different “builds” depending on the style of play.
