Quantic Dream has Been Acquired by NetEase Games
NetEase Games has announced that they have acquired Quantic Dream, the studio behind titles such as Detroit: Become Human and Heavy Rain.
According to VentureBeat, this acquisition comes after a minority investment back in 2019. The studio, headed by David Cage and Guillaume de Fondaumière, will continue to create games across all platforms and will leverage the development capabilities of NetEase Games for future projects.
“We are thrilled to embark on an exciting new stage of growth with Quantic Dream, bound by our shared vision, mutual trust and respect,” said NetEase CEO William Ding. “NetEase will continue to fulfil our promise to support Quantic Dream to realise its full potential.”
“Today marks an important milestone for our studio after a quarter century of complete independence. NetEase Games values our creative freedom and the drive and passion of our uniquely diverse team. We will now be able to accelerate the vision we share as a group, of creating landmark titles that touch people on an emotional level,” adds David Cage.
Quantic Dream is currently working on a new game called Star Wars: Eclipse, which is described as a branching action-adventure game set in the High Republic Era and will feature an original story.
