Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo Reportedly Skipping E3 2023
What could have been a resurgence for the iconic industry event may have suffered a major setback as the big three—Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo—are reportedly skipping E3 2023.
The report comes from IGN, which has heard from “multiple knowledgeable sources,” that all three companies will not be a part of E3 2023, nor will they even have a presence on the event floor.
VGC has also corroborated the news, saying that Nintendo is skipping the show because “it feels it has fewer major releases than usual ready to show and which would justify significant event space.”
This shouldn’t come as a big surprise, seeing as Sony has skipped E3 since 2019, and Microsoft has been holding its own showcase during the time frame at the Microsoft Theater.
That said, there are many more companies possibly joining the event, and organizer ReedPop has issued a statement to VGC saying that they have “received a tremendous amount of interest from many of the biggest companies in the industry,” still making the event a destination for fans.
While there has been no official word yet from the organizers or from the three companies, we’ll have to wait and see how E3 2023 is going to shape up in the next few months.
E3 will be returning to the Los Angeles Convention Center for a four-day expo from June 13 to June 16, 2023.
