God of War Ragnarok and Gran Turismo 7 coming to PS4

Both God of War Ragnarok and Gran Turismo 7 are in the spotlight thanks to a recent interview with PlayStation Studios boss Hermen Hulst, with a quote that seemingly suggests that both games will be cross-generation releases for both the PS4 and PS5.

As can be seen on the PlayStation Blog, Hulst says, “Where it makes sense to develop a title for both PS4 and PS5 – for Horizon Forbidden West, the next God of War, GT7 – we’ll continue looking at that,” he explained. “And if PS4 owners want to play that game, then they can. If they want to go on and play the PS5 version, that game will be there for them.”

This is… great news, right?

While this is not exactly an explicit confirmation yet, it does appear to be one, as it would not make sense to lump those games in the same breath as Horizon Forbidden West when talking about developing a title for both consoles.

On one hand, it would be great that both games will get to reach a much wider audience – around 110 million PS4 users, most of which cannot get hold of a PS5 just yet. On the other hand, this certainly contradicts their past statements, and could be seen as something that holds back the next-gen experiences from finally happening.

Whatever the case may be, PS4 owners who can’t upgrade yet will certainly welcome the good news.

God of War Ragnarok and Gran Turismo 7 are both set to release on the PS5 and PS4 in 2022.
