Before the launch of the next major software update later this year, Sony has announced that it is opening up its first system software beta program, which will allow selected users to gain early access to upcoming features to help test it out and improve based on the feedback.

Sadly, the program won’t be available in the Philippines, or in Southeast Asia for that matter, as it is only limited to the U.S., Canada, Japan, U.K., Germany and France. Sign-ups are now available and if you are selected to take part, you’ll receive an email with further details on how to participate in the beta program.

Of course, it goes without saying, that you’ll be needing a PlayStation 5 to take part in this, along with a valid PSN account.

After the previous update, which saw the implementation of external USB storage, we’re hoping that the next update will finally allow users to expand the usable memory of the PlayStation 5 so players can download games to their hearts content.
