HoYoverse has announced that Genshin Impact Version 5.3, entitled “Incandescent Ode of Resurrection,” is launching on January 1, 2025.

The Genshin Impact update will see the inclusion of two new characters, with the highlight being the Pyro Archon, Mavuika.

Genshin Impact Version 5.3 New Characters

Mavuika

Mavuika, also known as the Pyro Archon Haborym, enters the battlefield with two distinct combat styles: wielding her claymore or crushing opponents while riding her Flamestrider. By tapping her Elemental Skill, the Ring of Searing Radiance manifests, following Mavuika or the active character and unleashing continuous Pyro attacks.

By holding her Elemental Skill, Mavuika mounts her Flamestrider, enabling her to scale cliffs, traverse land and water, glide in mid-air, and charge into opponents. Fighting alongside her teammates, Mavuika gains a unique resource called Fighting Spirit, which is used to activate her Elemental Burst. Her Elemental Burst unleashes a powerful AoE Pyro attack, placing Mavuika in a special state with higher interruption resistance and enhanced combat power. Additionally, Mavuika can decrease the party’s Nightsoul Transmission Cooldown by 20%.

Citlali

Granny Itztli, also known as Citlali from the Masters of the Night-Wind, brings a biting cold to the battlefield as a 5-star Cryo Catalyst user. Revered by her tribe as a powerful Shaman, Citlali is always accompanied by her two little companions, Itzpapa and Citlalin. During exploration, they transform into cushions and pillows, allowing Citlali to comfortably float in mid-air.

In combat, Citlali can deploy Cryo shields and summon a powerful Cryo storm of AoE damage with her companions. While in her Nightsoul’s Blessing state, Granny Itztli lowers the Pyro and Hydro resistance of opponents affected by Frozen or Melt reactions, even when Citlali is off-field.

Other highlights of Genshin Impact Version 5.3 include:

• Generous Rewards Await: Primogems ×1,600 and the new glider “Wings of Fate’s Course Intertwined” (via in-game mails), Intertwined Fate ×10 (via daily login event), a free 4-star Liyue character (via Lantern Rite event), and Xiangling’s new outfit (via Festive Fever in the event).
• New Main Story: The story continues with Act V of Natlan’s Archon Quest, in which Mavuika and the Traveler will face the Abyss in a decisive battle. The Pyro element will also be unlocked for the Traveler.
• Lantern Rite: Returns with a new story, mini-games, and rewards.
• Two New Outfits: Hu Tao – “Cherries Snow-Laden” (limited-time discount), and Xiangling – “New Year’s Cheer” (free reward from Lantern Rite).
• Two New Bosses: “Wayward Hermetic Spiritspeaker” and the new Weekly Boss “Lord of Eroded Primal Fire.”
• New Additions: Rhythm game becomes permanent, and adds Kazuha and Ganyu to Envisaged Echoes.
• New optimizations: Boss respawn time reduced to 5 seconds without the need to teleport away, Artifact Inventory Limit increased to 2,100, and an improved Training Guide.
