PlayStation 5 Finally Gets VRR Support Later This Week
First announced last month, the PlayStation 5 will finally be getting Variable Refresh Rate support later this week, more than a year after it first launched.
Announced on the PlayStation Blog, SVP of Platform Experience Hideaki Nishino provided the update, saying that the feature will start rolling out globally to players starting this week. Players with VRR compatible TVs and monitors will enjoy visual performance by “minimizing or eliminating visual artifacts, such as frame pacing issues and screen tearing.”
VRR support on previously-released games will come via a patch while future games may include VRR support at launch.
PlayStation 5 Games With Incoming VRR Support
Sony released a list of games that release (or have released) a patch already, including the following:
- Astro’s Playroom
- Call of Duty: Vanguard
- Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
- Destiny 2
- Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition
- DIRT 5
- Godfall
- Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered
- Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
- Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
- Resident Evil Village
- Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands
- Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege
- Tribes of Midgard
Prior to this update, VRR support was only available on the Xbox Series, so this will certainly put a smile on the faces of PS5 players as well.
