Netflix’s ‘City Hunter’ Live-action Adaptation Premieres on April 25
Netflix has announced that the eagerly awaited Japanese live-action adaptation of “City Hunter” will premiere on April 25.
Additional cast members have been unveiled for the iconic characters of Hideyuki Makimura and Saeko Nogami. These roles will be portrayed by Masanobu Ando and Fumino Kimura, respectively.
Masanobu Ando takes on the role of Hideyuki Makimura, the older brother of Kaori Makimura and a close friend and “sweeper” partner of Ryo. Once a skilled detective, Hideyuki is now retired due to a past incident. Despite this, he continues to utilize his abilities to support Ryo in their shared endeavors. Reflecting on the significance of his character, Ando shares, “I felt immense pressure to do justice to a role that holds such popularity in the original manga and animation. I sincerely hope that both existing City Hunter fans and newcomers will thoroughly enjoy the film.”
Fumino Kimura steps into the shoes of Saeko Nogami, a detective from the Metropolitan Police Department with a mysterious connection to Ryo. Saeko and Hideyuki were former colleagues, and their history ensures that she and Ryo still exchange crucial information about the underworld. Saeko’s beauty, allure, and engaging banter with Ryo have endeared her to fans of the original series. Kimura admits, “The role of Saeko was a daunting challenge, and I couldn’t initially envision myself in it. However, having the support and guidance of Ryohei Suzuki, our leading man and a devoted fan of the original work, was incredibly reassuring. I am confident that both longtime enthusiasts and new audiences are in for a delightful cinematic experience.”
