Left 4 Dead 2 Transformed Into The Last of Us by Talented Filipino Modder
In a nutshell
- Filipino modder Nowell Jr. has created The Aftermath, a Left 4 Dead 2 mod that transforms the game into The Last of Us, complete with characters like Ellie and Joel, Clicker enemies, and features like bodycam mode, sprinting, and POV toggles.
- Still in beta, the mod introduces refined visuals, unique monster abilities, and a growing feature set, looking like a promising endeavor.
Left 4 Dead 2 and The Last of Us would make for an interesting combination, but we no longer need to imagine it, as Filipino modder Nowell Jr. has successfully merged the two worlds through a mod.
Left 4 Dead 2 Mod Details
Entitled The Aftermath, this Left 4 Dead 2 mod basically transforms the world and its characters into The Last of Us. In these screenshots, we can see characters like Ellie going against Clickers and the like. The mod includes some great features like the ability to switch between first and third-person view, pressing Shift to do a Call of Duty-style sprint, a body camera mode, and much more.

Nowell Jr. states that the mod is still in beta and he is still tweaking it, but it certainly looks promising. As it stands, the four main protagonists of the mod are Ellie, Joel, Owen, and Bill. Recent improvements include better ragdolls, the addition of abilities to the monsters, such as the Tanker’s “mutate” into something like the Rat King, and more.
While some textures still look like they’re in the early stages of development, we can’t help but imagine how much better they’ll turn out once more work is put into them. Nowell Jr. says that gameplay footage will be posted “soon” as he is accepting and incorporating feedback.

This is impressive stuff, and when it is made available, we can definitely see it being playable by the Left 4 Dead 2 community, along with The Last of Us community itching for a TLOU-themed multiplayer title.
