Further details for Resident Evil: Village revealed, will be a sequel and will conclude the story from RE7
The announcement of the next Resident Evil game was a very welcome surprise, as we got to see a scarier and more action oriented take on the series. We don’t know much about it, but some details have been spilled by Capcom themselves.
In a recent interview with Famitsu (translated by Alex Aniel), Resident Evil: Village producers Tsuyoshi Kanda and Pete Fabiano shared quite a number of details about the upcoming game, including some story bits and how Village is connected to Resident Evil 7.
First off, Village has been in development for the past 3.5 years and will serve as a direct sequel to the events of RE7 and at the same time, conclude the story of the previous game. If you’ve played RE7, you know that at some point, there is a branch off in the story. The producers of the game did not mention specifically which storyline is followed, but gave a hint that you may see it from the Village trailer.
Resident Evil Village also is confirmed to be set somewhere in Europe, and as the title suggests, the producers give a cryptic statement about how the “Village” is another protagonist in the game.
With Village being a direct sequel from RE7, expect the same first person view but the producers have made it clear that the system has greatly evolved, so we can expect some changes and better implementation. Along with the first person point of view, inventory management and puzzles are also making a return.

Lastly, its been confirmed that Village will be exclusive to next generation consoles, for both PS5 and Series X, pointing to a more immersive experience due to the audio visual upgrade and the near removal of loading times.
Village is around 60% development complete and more details will be given in another update come August.
Resident Evil: Village is scheduled for a 2021 release for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
