Swords of Legends Details

Swords of Legends is the official sequel to the Gujian single-player series, expanding its universe with a new narrative and mythological depth. The game is said to feature a “wide linear” structure, rich in cinematic storytelling and exploration, but not fully open-world or Soulslike.

In the game, players will assume the role of an Underworld Enforcer navigating realms of the living and dead, guiding lost souls with personal backstories. Combat is aimed at accessibility over difficulty, with mechanics like soul capturing and summonable allies, including Ox-Head and Horse-Face.

Additionally, no prior knowledge of the Gujian franchise is required, as the story of Swords of Legends is standalone. Development began with Unreal Engine 5 in 2021, gained momentum in 2024 with new funding, and is now in full production.
