Battlefield 6 Season 2 Heads to Europe with New Maps, Chemical Warfare, and Night Operations

In a nutshell

  • New Maps and Phases: Battlefield 6 Season 2 introduces “Contaminated” (a scarred forest) and “Hagental Base” (a stealth-focused military facility) across a three-phase content rollout.
  • Innovative Mechanics: New limited-time modes feature “psychoactive smoke” that causes hallucinations and pitch-black night operations requiring Night Vision Goggles.
  • Cinematic Return: The season concludes in April with “Operation Augur,” a large-scale mode inspired by the fan-favorite Operations from Battlefield 1.

Electronic Arts and Battlefield Studios have officially launched Season 2 for Battlefield 6 and Battlefield REDSEC.

Shifting the theater of war to Europe, the new season introduces a structured three-phase rollout featuring new maps, tactical gadgets, and experimental gameplay mechanics that lean into chemical warfare and stealth.

Phase 1: Extreme Measures and Psychoactive Combat

Starting today, February 18, Battlefield 6 Season 2 Phase 1 introduces Contaminated, a large-scale map set within a decimated European forest. The primary highlight of this phase is the VL-7 limited-time experience, which introduces psychoactive smoke to the battlefield. These clouds disorient players with immersive hallucinations, forcing squads to rely on communication rather than visual cues to navigate the fog.

Phase 2: Nightfall and Stealth Gameplay

On March 17, the focus shifts to Hagental Base with the launch of Battlefield 6 Season 2 Phase 2: Nightfall. This phase emphasizes close-quarters combat and stealth. A dedicated limited-time mode plunges the map into total darkness, requiring Night Vision Goggles. This tactical shift will also be reflected in Battlefield REDSEC through a specialized “Gauntlet” playlist.

Phase 3: The Return of Grand Operations

The season reaches its climax on April 17 with Battlefield 6 Season 2 Phase 3: Hunter & Prey. This update introduces Operation Augur, a mode inspired by the cinematic, multi-sector campaigns of Battlefield 1. Spanning both new maps, Operation Augur emphasizes sustained momentum and large-scale objective play, aiming to provide the high-intensity “Battlefield moments” the franchise is known for.

Alongside the major map and mode updates, Battlefield 6 Season 2 includes a fresh Battle Pass, new vehicles, and a suite of weapons and gadgets distributed across the three phases.
