Individuals responsible for The Last of Us 2 leaks not affiliated with Naughty Dog or Sony

This week was a particularly bad one for Naughty Dog as it was faced with the issue of having spoiler heavy scenes from The Last of Us 2 leaked to the public. Naughty Dog have since released a statement about it as of today, Sony has confirmed with GamesIndustry.biz that “it has identified the primary individuals responsible for the leaks earlier this week, saying they were not affiliated with Sony Interactive Entertainment or Naughty Dog, as was rumored.”

Initial rumors have placed the leaker as a disgruntled employee from Naughty Dog who used the incident as leverage to improved the working conditions in the studio, citing unfair treatment of employees. This has now been put to rest following the statement from Sony.

Sony has also confirmed the new date of release for The Last of Us 2, confirming it for June 19, just a few weeks after its initial May 29 schedule. Pre-orders are back up on the PlayStation Store and if the COVID-19 situation persists, going digital may be the only way for you to play the game on day one.

The Last of Us 2 is also reported to take up at least 100GB of space, making it one of the biggest game file sizes alongside Red Dead Redemption 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and Final Fantasy 7 Remake.
