PlayStation 5 supply woes may continue until 2022
Waiting for the right time to get a PlayStation 5 this year? Sony warns that PlayStation 5 supply woes may continue until next year due to the global shortage in semiconductors.
Despite being the fastest selling console in US history, Bloomberg points out that the stock situation for the console won’t be any better leading up to next year. A comment made by Hiroki Totoki, Sony’s CFO, said during a financial reports briefing that “I don’t think demand is calming down this year and even if we secure a lot more devices and produce many more units of the PlayStation 5 next year, our supply wouldn’t be able to catch up with demand,”
Locally, the PlayStation 5 has gone through 4 waves of restocks, but still isn’t enough to go around, prompting some gamers to look for alternative sources even at inflated prices. It would be safe to say that owning one at this point in time is somewhat a rarity, as the limited PlayStation 5 supply will surely hinder your chances of getting one through normal means.
