Marvel’s Avengers removes paid boosts after facing heavy backlash
After a very rocky launch leading to some questionable decisions that saw the game add paid boosters called Hero’s Catalysts and Fragment extractors, Crystal Dynamics have confirmed that these items will be and have already been removed from the game.
While the addition of paid boosters is not necessarily something new in the gaming scene today, the backlash from players stems from the fact that the team made a promise that none of this was going to happen prior to launch. Since then, tweaks have been made, and just earlier this year, experience progression was nerfed, opening Marvel’s Avengers up to add these controversial items.
Crystal Dynamics has apologized for not responding sooner as they initially did not see these items as pay-to-win conditions. but have since changed course after considering feedback from the community. They hope that this can be “the first step in rebuilding your confidence in us as a team.”
Marvel’s Avengers have made strides in adding much-needed content into the game, with Spider-Man incoming later this year and opening the game up to Game Pass subscribers in the hopes of regaining a healthy player base.
Marvel’s Avengers is now available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC.
