Nintendo Switch Prices to Stay Put, Says Nintendo

Amidst the wake of the PlayStation 5 price increase, Nintendo responds by saying that they currently don’t have plans to increase the price of the Nintendo Switch.

A statement from the company is being sent over to various outfits like Eurogamer, saying the following:

As our president Mr Furukawa stated at the 82nd Annual General Meeting of Shareholders in June:

“While we cannot comment on pricing strategies, we currently do not have any plans to change the price of our hardware due to inflation or increased procurement costs in each country. We will determine our future pricing strategies through careful and continued deliberations.”

While the final price to consumers is always determined by retailers, as Mr Furukawa stated, Nintendo has no plans to increase the trade price of its hardware.

This statement by Nintendo echoes Microsoft’s announcement, which earlier said that the retail price of the Xbox Series consoles would remain the same. This makes Sony the only company among the 3 that has raised prices for their console offerings.

Earlier today, Nintendo just released their Splatoon 3-themed Nintendo Switch OLED along with a themed pro controller and a carrying case as well.
