No Mortal Kombat Announcements to be Made During EVO 2022
EVO 2022 is set to take place later this week, and with fighting game fans looking forward to lots of pro-level action, the event might play host to a number of announcements from some publishers, including Mortal Kombat.
A tweet from IGN reads “The developers behind Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Tekken, and Guilty Gear are all expected to make announcements during Evo 2022,” but Ed Boon, creator of Mortal Kombat, has written off any MK announcements to be made during the event.
“…except Mortal Kombat. Sorry,” was his only response to the tweet.
Boon mentioned that EVO 2022 is the time for the spotlight to shine on Street Fighter and the other participating fighting games, and urges fans to enjoy those instead.
It’s been a while since MK 11 came out back in 2019, and while the game has seen multiple new characters added to the mix over the years, including a definitive MK 11 Ultimate edition, no word on the next game has been made just yet.
Based on this statement from the man himself, we’ll have to wait a little bit longer to hear some big news about the next installment in the series.
