EA Stops Development on Apex Legends Mobile and Battlefield Mobile
EA has announced that they will be stopping development for both Apex Legends Mobile and Battlefield Mobile.
Apex Legends Mobile will be sunsetting on May 1, 2023, meaning that the servers will go down on that date, preventing further play. As such, the store for the game will no longer be accessible and no refunds for any purchases made will be given. Shutting down the mobile game will have no effect on the main Apex Legends game on other platforms.
“Following a strong start, the content pipeline for Apex Legends Mobile has begun to fall short of that bar for quality, quantity, and cadence. It is for this reason, after months of working with our development partner, that we have made the mutual decision to sunset our mobile game,” says Respawn Entertainment.
As for Battlefield Mobile, it sadly didn’t get to move on from its open beta tests. As per the statement given by EA, this is due to a “pivot from the current direction.”
“As the industry has evolved and our strategy to create a deeply connected Battlefield ecosystem has taken shape, we decided to pivot from the current direction to best deliver on our vision for the franchise and to meet the expectations of our players.”
