Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard takes another step closer to completion as the company has just won its case against the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

Judge Jacqueline Corley has ruled to deny the FTC of its request for a preliminary injunction, which was supposed to have blocked the deal. Instead, Microsoft now looks to fully close the acquisition ahead of the July 18 deadline.

Xbox head Phil Spencer writes in a statement thanking the court for its swift decision, saying that the deal is good for the industry. Spencer further reiterates that their “commitment to bringing more games to more people on more devices has only grown” and that multiple deals have already been signed to “make Activision Blizzard’s games, Xbox first party games and Game Pass all available to more players than they are today.”

The UK’s CMA has previously blocked the deal, but according to Microsoft president Brad Smith, it is currently working with the regulator to find a workaround that is acceptable to the CMA.
