Rumored PS5 Pro Details Surface, Reportedly Targeting November 2024 Release

Rumors of a PS5 Pro have been around for a while now, and while no details have been released yet, a report from KeyToGaming has uncovered pretty exciting tidbits about the upcoming mid-gen refresh.

According to Tom Henderson, the PS5 Pro is currently in development and is called “Project Trinity.” This shouldn’t come as a surprise since prior hardware from Sony also referenced characters from The Matrix, like the PS4 Pro (Neo) and PS VR (Morpheus).

Henderson says that the upgraded console has been in development since 2022 and demo events are already in the works and the majority of studios will be receiving development kits by late November 2023.

The rumored specs for the PS5 Pro will have 30 WGP and 18000mts memory, along with targeting “improved and consistent FPS at 4K resolution, a new ‘performance mode’ for 8K resolution, and accelerated ray tracing.”

Henderson admits that, due to his lack of technological prowess, he can’t quite pin down the specs of the said system.

While a grain of salt is obviously needed for reports of this type, it has to be considered that Henderson has a very high batting average when it comes to reporting upcoming hardware from Sony. He has correctly reported on the INZONE line of peripherals, the upcoming wireless earbuds, the DualSense Edge controller, and more. His most recent hardware report talks about a new PS5 model with a detachable disc drive.

Henderson notes that this is the last piece of hardware for this generation and that his next report will most probably be about the PlayStation 6, which is currently planned for a 2028 release.
