Rumored PS5 Pro Details Seemingly Leaked, Official Announcement Coming Soon
It’s almost an open secret now, and it seems like the PS5 Pro is indeed coming soon based on many statements from well-known insiders and industry leakers. The latest details now come from reliable leaker billbil-kun, who is known to have leaked almost all of the PS Plus free games with surprising accuracy.
In a post on dealabs, new details such as the “first look” at the packaging, the included controller, and the announcement window have emerged. While all of this is a rumor, we cannot discount the reliability of billbil-kun, and his track record does speak for itself. Until an official announcement is made, we have to take this with a grain of salt.
Please note that all items below are based on a rough Google translation of the page.
Unsurprisingly, the latest console from PlayStation will be named the PS5 Pro, according to billbil-kun. This is not a shock to anyone, and if we are to follow the naming convention from the PS4 generation, then this tracks.
A piece of new information shown is a sketch of the final packaging. According to billbil-kun, they were able to get a visual of the final packaging box, but for copyright reasons, will not share the actual image and instead provide a sketch.
The sketch shows the rumored PS5 Pro, with a design similar to that of the recent PS5 Slim except that the Pro has three black stripes in the middle. The report also alleges that because the exterior is similar to the Slim version, they imagine that it would be possible to reuse the Slim covers as well.
Bilbill-kun states that the other difference is that the PS5 Pro is “slightly thicker” than the Slim.
The image in question is the Pro version without a disc drive, and it is unsure whether the existence of a Disc Drive version will be available, or whether an external Disc Drive, similar to the Slim, will be a possibility. The report goes on to state that this could be a choice to keep the price competitive and have the Disc Drive be optional.
As for the PS5 Pro controller, the same DualSense will be used, meaning there won’t be a new and updated controller to match the Pro.
Billbil-kun estimates that the announcement is coming very soon and could be made in the first half of September 2024.
