NBA 2K21 goes full next-gen neighborhood makeover with ‘The City’
From the neighborhood to the city, NBA 2K21 is bringing some big changes to the next-gen versions of the game apart from crazy visual upgrades and a WNBA mode (finally).
Dubbed as The City, this sprawling new playground will be many times bigger than previous neighborhood installments and will be the “most ambitious execution of a virtual basketball community…ever.”
Newcomers will start out in an area called “Rookieville”, which is basically an onboarding / tutorial session where players will battle it out with one another to see themselves worthy of entering the City gates.
Affiliations make a return and will be featured on their specific boroughs in the City, with each having their own jersey, courts, and even a Mayor with 6-week terms that can dictate the court, mural, and even jersey designs of their affiliation.
Garage Hoops has also been added, where a hoop may be attached to the side of some buildings which can lead to some challenges between ballers who just happen to pass by.
The City even has quests that players can fulfill for rewards like cosmetic items that are not sold in the shops littered around. An RPG Basketball sim?! Sounds interesting.

NBA 2K21 will be available on November 10 for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S globally, November 12 for PlayStation 5 in the US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea, and November 19 for PlayStation 5 in all other regions.
