God of War Ragnarok Delayed to 2022
While a lot of people had a strong feeling that the next God of War game wasn’t going to release this year, Sony and Santa Monica Studio have finally confirmed God of War Ragnarok delayed to 2022. Originally planned for 2021, the next God of War game will be seeing a 2022 release, with no specific window given.
This comes from an announcement from Santa Monica Studio, saying that while they believe in delivering a top-quality game, they also want to maintain the safety and well-being of the team, hence the hard decision to delay the next God of War game.
An interview with Hermen Hulst over at the PlayStation Blog says that “the project started a little later. So we’ve made the decision to push that game out to next year, to ensure that Santa Monica Studio can deliver the amazing God of War game that we all want to play.”
God of War Ragnarok Delayed, coming to PS4 as well?
Later on in the interview, Hulst also mentioned something that seemingly suggests, or maybe even indirectly confirming, that both God of War Ragnarok and Gran Turismo 7 will be headed to the PlayStation 4 as well, instead of being exclusive to the PlayStation 5, similar to Horizon Forbidden West.
When asked about how the PS4 still factors into the development vision, Hulst says that “Where it makes sense to develop a title for both PS4 and PS5 — for Horizon Forbidden West, the next God of War, GT7 — we’ll continue looking at that. And if PS4 owners want to play that game, then they can. If they want to go on and play the PS5 version, that game will be there for them.”
Will you be getting God of War Ragnarok for the PlayStation 4 or 5 when it releases next year?
