The 40-minute Nintendo Direct for E3 has been standard fare with some pretty interesting games in their lineup. Yet managing our expectations, we weren’t holding out on the more anticipated games like Metroid Prime 4 and Bayonetta 3. However, there were some small surprises to keep smiling, along with Eiji Aonuma announcing the first look for the much awaited Breath of the Wild sequel.

While we didn’t see Metroid Prime 4 in this segment, we did get a presentation of Metroid Dread, the first 2D side scroller in the mainline series after a long while. With a release date of October 8, it’s something to bide the time for the eventual announcement of the new generation sequel. Also, Shin Megami Tensei V finally gets unveiled following the leak from before E3.

There were many reiterations of the announcements heard from other presentations, remasters like Danganronpa Decadence and Advance Wars 1+2 Re–Boot Camp have been pleasant surprises to look forward to add to the much growing library of Nintendo Switch games. Another pleasant surprise is a Fatal Frame remastered from Wii U releasing much later this year.
