Diablo IV and Overwatch 2 delayed by Activision Blizzard

Delays are more than a normal occurrence nowadays, and both Diablo IV and Overwatch 2 are the next ones to take a hit as Activision Blizzard has announced moving them out further during a recently concluded earnings report.

Based on the update, while no specific release date has been mentioned, there are some hints that we could see the game pushed back to 2023 at the very least. On the last line of the statement, it is mentioned that “These decisions will push out the financial uplift that we had expected to see next year,” which leads us to believe that both titles are being pushed out and beyond 2022.

As we have worked with new leadership in Blizzard and within the franchises themselves, particularly in certain key creative roles, it has become apparent that some of the Blizzard content planned for next year will benefit from more development time to reach its full potential.

While we are still planning to deliver a substantial amount of content from Blizzard next year, we are now planning for a later launch for Overwatch 2 and Diablo IV than originally envisaged.

Both games are highly anticipated for various reasons, and hopefully this delay will give the team the time they need to ensure that both Diablo IV and Overwatch 2 reach the potential that fans of both franchises expect from it.

In the meantime, Diablo Immortal development is going well and is expected to see a release sometime in the first half of 2022.
