Nintendo Switch Sales Overtake Wii And PS1, Breaches 100 Million Mark

The Nintendo Switch has been selling at a blistering pace despite the ongoing pandemic and based on the latest Nintendo financial reports, it has now sold 103.54 million as of December 31, 2021. This number now puts it ahead of the Wii (101.63 million) and the PS1 (102.49 million) in terms of lifetime sales.

As a quick breakdown of the Switch family, the OG model still leads the way with 81.68 million sold, followed by the Lite at 17.87 million, and then the OLED coming in hot at 3.99 million after just a few months.

In other numbers, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl have sold 13.97 million as of December 31, 2021, which puts it as the 9th best-selling first-party title of the Switch.

Pretty good numbers for Nintendo, all things considered, and with more games down the line like Kirby’s Forgotten City, Triangle Strategy, and Bayonetta 3, we can expect more Switches to be flying off the shelves sooner rather than later.
