PS5 1440p Support and Folders Added to Software Beta
Sony has announced that one of the most-requested features for the PS5 will be rolling out in the system software beta, which will include 1440p support, gamelists, and much more.
Starting today, PS5 system software beta participants in select countries (U.S., Canada, Japan, U.K., Germany and France) will gain access to a list of updates that have been requested by the community for a long time.
The biggest feature is 1440p support, which allows players to view their games in 1440p via compatible displays. If the game supports 1440p, then the output will be in native 1440p, but if the game has a higher native resolution like 4K, you may benefit from improved anti-aliasing through supersampling down to 1440p.
Players can also create folders now, called Gamelists, via the game library, and can support up to 15 gamelists and 100 games per gamelist. All games under “Your Collection” can be added to a gamelist, and games can be added multiples times to different gamelists.
Other features coming to the PS5 system software beta include the following:
- Compare 3D Audio and Stereo Audio
- Easier Access to In-progress Activities
- Request Share Screen
- Joinable Game Notification
- View New Friends’ Profiles
- Send Stickers and Voice Messages in Game Base
Sony did not announce when the new update will be leaving beta, but we’re hoping to see it in the next few months.
