All PlayStation 5 launch day consoles will be sold online-only, Sony confirms
With the uncertainty wearing down on some consumers, Sony has finally given us an update regarding the launch of the PlayStation 5 in the next week or two, depending on where you are in the world.
Coming from a PlayStation Blog post and also via social media, Sony have given out the advisory that all PlayStation 5 consoles that will be on sale on November 12 or 19 will be online-only. No waiting on storefronts, no camping out. Online will be the way to go if you want to nab yourself a console, as this is the safest way to go to further prevent the spread of the pandemic.
What does this mean here for users in the Philippines? Simple, no need to get up and out from your cozy sheets to get yourself a system. If and when our local retailers give the word about pre-orders, which will most probably be through the various websites like Datablitz and Game One, simply follow the mechanics given and hopefully people who want one actually get one. No news has been shared by local retailers yet on how and when these pre-orders will take place, so watch out for that.
Of course, it would be wise to expect limited stocks. While there is no word on how many units will actually arrive here, there is a big chance that it may not be enough to meet the demand due to various circumstances brought about by COVID.
Keep your eyes peeled for more local updates, we’ll be sure to bring you more PlayStation 5 news as it comes!
