Bayonetta Voice Actor Claims Disputed, Reportedly Offered Much More Than $4,000

Following Hellena Taylor’s initial revelations about her pay situation for Bayonetta 3 as she explained why she didn’t come back to the project, new reports have surfaced that dispute Taylor’s claims regarding pay.

A report from Jason Schreier on Bloomberg shows new information about the situation, saying that Taylor was offered $3,000-$4,000 for at least 5 sessions, totaling around $15,000. Stephen Totilo of Axios mentioned he’s heard of the same amount floating around, while Andy Robinson of VGC corroborates the Bloomberg report. A VGC source also claims that this is a “significant increase” from the second Bayonetta game.

The report further says that Taylor rejected the offer and instead asked for a six-digit sum and residuals, but after negotiations, Platinum moved on to hire Jennifer Hale instead. Taylor also reportedly declined another offer of a cameo in exchange for a one session fee.

When asked for proof, Schreier mentions that he has seen written evidence of the offer that’s “at least $15,000.”

In private statements to Bloomberg and VGC, Taylor reportedly replied and said that the claims were untrue and that Platinum is “trying to save their ass and the game.”

It would be interesting to see how this all plays out, as it has basically become a “he said, she said” situation. We’re hoping that the issue gets resolved amicably between all parties involved.

Bayonetta 3 is scheduled to launch on October 28 for the Nintendo Switch.
