Call of Duty to Remain on PlayStation for 10 More Years, Offered by Microsoft
Microsoft has reportedly offered a 10-year deal to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation platforms.
The report comes by way of the New York Times, saying that Microsoft offered a sizable 10-year deal to keep Call on Duty on PlayStation last November 11, but Sony had declined to comment on the claim.
Prior to all of this, Spencer already made it clear that the franchise will remain on PlayStation for several more years beyond the existing deals, but Jim Ryan had expressed disappointment, saying it was inadequate on many levels.
The Call of Duty Franchise is at the center of the ongoing Activision Blizzard acquisition by Microsoft and has been under scrutiny by regulators due to the effect it could have on the industry. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II recently delivered the largest opening weekend in franchise history, garnering $800 Million in just three days.
The back and forth from both Microsoft and Sony have been going on for quite some time, and we can expect it to run for much longer while the acquisition deal is not yet complete.
