Nekome Nazi Hunter – Hands-On Preview

At Summer Game Fest, we went hands-on with Nekome: Nazi Hunter, an upcoming third‑person action title from ProbablyMonsters Inc. The game follows Vano Nastasu, a Romani man seeking vengeance against the Nazi soldiers who massacred his family. What unfolds is a stylish, brutal revenge tale that blends the pulpy flair of Inglourious Basterds with the kinetic, close‑quarters combat energy of Sifu.

Across a 30‑minute session, we played through two levels showcasing the game’s narrative setup, varied playstyles, and its unapologetically violent approach to Nazi‑hunting.

Nekome Nazi Hunter – Hands-On Preview

Our demo opened during a private dinner among high‑ranking Nazi officers at the height of World War II. As they boast about their victories and future plans, one of the waiters, secretly Vano, approaches the table and reveals a severed head, sending the room into chaos. Using the shock to his advantage, Vano swiftly eliminates the commanding officer before turning his attention to the rest of the room.

Combat is presented from a third‑person perspective and focuses on knife‑based melee encounters. Vano can strike, counter incoming attacks, and execute finishing blows once enemies are weakened. The action is fast, visceral, and deliberately over‑the‑top, reveling in its grindhouse‑style brutality.

As you build up a focus meter, you can unleash targeted strikes that allow Vano to mark and dispatch multiple enemies in rapid succession, thinning out groups with precise, cinematic efficiency.

Once the final officer falls, the scene ends, and the game transitions into a flashback set in the United States.

The second level of our Nekome: Nazi Hunter playthrough rewinds to a moment when Vano discovers his adoptive father murdered by a Nazi sleeper agent. The chase leads him to a covert hideout hidden within the neighborhood, shifting the gameplay toward stealth and infiltration.

Here, Vano can silently eliminate enemies from behind, distract guards by tossing his whistle, or manipulate the environment to create openings. The level also introduces improvised weapons, lamps, pipes, and other objects can be wielded alongside Vano’s knife, giving encounters a scrappy, improvisational feel.

As you push deeper into the compound, additional objectives appear, such as destroying Nazi propaganda and symbols scattered throughout the base. Health packs help you recover as you carve your way through an entire building of enemies.

Nekome: Nazi Hunter stands out with its bold premise, striking visual style, and unapologetically visceral action. Even in a short demo, Vano’s quest for revenge shows promise, blending narrative flair with satisfying, high‑impact combat.

We’re eager to see how his story unfolds when the game launches next year.

Nekome: Nazi Hunter is launching on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC for Early 2027.
