Elden Ring ‘Shadow of the Erdtree’ DLC Said to be Bigger Than Limgrave
The upcoming Elden Ring DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, is said to be FROMSoftware’s largest expansion to date, with a size bigger than Limgrave.
Speaking to Eurogamer, Hidetaka Miyazaki confirmed that the DLC is their largest expansion in terms of overall volume and will take place in a brand new area on a brand new map. This area will include familiar sights such as field areas and dungeons of varying scale and will be “larger even than Limgrave in the base game” in terms of pure surface area.
Miyazaki also added that the team has brought a “denser and richer level design” to the DLC, bringing these areas together more seamlessly.
“There of course will be large open areas, there of course will be legacy dungeons, but we’ve also experimented with something a little more in-between these as well to bring a more diverse gameplay experience.”
Elden Ring’s Shadows of the Erdtree DLC will also bring 10 new boss fights, new weapons, new equipment, new skills, and eight new weapon categories.
When asked if the difficulty will resemble Bloodborne’s The Old Hunters, which upped the challenge level, Miyazaki says that Shadow of the Erdtree “will be on a similar footing to the endgame of Elden Ring, though the general approach to challenge has not changed.”
