It’s been quite a while since we last heard about the Resident Evil movie. Directed by Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down, The Strangers: Prey at Night), Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is based on the first 2 games in the series and will serve as an origin story rather than a remake.
In an exclusive interview by IGN, Roberts mentioned that he was influenced a lot by the remake of the second game, saying that he wants the movie to “go back to the horror” instead of focusing on action.
Roberts also reveals that they worked closely with Capcom to remain as faithful to the series as possible.
